The Monastery of Agios Gerasimos

Situated under Mount Ainos, the monastery of Kefalonia’s protector saint has been rebuild. Under the church there is a two-room cave that can only be reached through a narrow hole. It is said that only true believers can fit through the tiny hole.

Melissani Lake Cave

While in Kefalonia make sure to take the Melissani Boat Trip to marvel the true natural wonder of cave Melissani on the east coast of the island. The cave is about 100 meters long and the water is 30 m. deep composed both of sea water and sweet water.

Dogarati Cave

Another rare geological phenomenon worth visiting is the cave of Dogarati filled with multi-hued stalactites and stalagmites. The cave is 44 m long and it is well known for its excellent acoustics and thus it is often used for concerts.

Iakovateios Library-Museum

Situated on the western side of Lixouri, the Iakovateios Library-Museum features an amazing collection of approximately 30.000 volumes from the 16th to the 19th century. The Museum also features 36 icons of exceptional value, paintings, handwritten gospels, manuscripts and old furniture.
